Gadsden State’s Deddric Tarver Named ACCC Coach of the Year

Gadsden, Ala. — Gadsden State Community College is proud to announce that Head Men’s Basketball Coach Deddric Tarver has been named the Alabama Community College Conference (ACCC) Coach of the Year, recognizing his outstanding leadership and the success of the Cardinals during the 2025–2026 season.

Under Tarver’s direction, the Gadsden State men’s basketball program delivered an exceptional season marked by strong conference performance, disciplined play, and continued growth both on and off the court. His leadership has helped elevate the program while developing student-athletes who excel academically and athletically.

“Coach Tarver has built a culture of accountability, toughness and excellence within our program,” said Gadsden State Athletic Director Dr. Blake Lewis. “This recognition is a reflection of the hard work he puts in every day and the respect he has earned across the conference.”

Tarver’s impact extends beyond wins and losses. Known for his commitment to student success, he emphasizes character development, academic achievement and preparing players for the next level.

“I am honored to receive this recognition, but it truly belongs to our players and staff,” Tarver said. “They have bought into our vision and put in the work every day. I am proud of what we have accomplished together.”

The ACCC Coach of the Year award is voted on by conference coaches and recognizes excellence in leadership, team performance and overall contribution to the sport.

Gadsden State continues to build momentum within its athletics programs, with men’s basketball playing a key role in that success.
